Special Alert! Take Action!

KILL THE BILL – HB 318 – NOT WILD BUFFALO!
LAST CHANCE TO STOP HB 318 IN THE MONTANA SENATE

The Senate Agriculture, Livestock & Irrigation committee is likely to vote on HB 318 Thursday, March 11 when they meet for executive session at 3 PM (MST).  HB 318, a bill to redefine wild buffalo, is expected to pass in committee and reach the Senate floor early next week.

TAKE ACTION!  To stop HB 318, please call and leave a message for up to 5 legislators in the Senate with the Information Desk (406) 444-4800.     You can also email your opposition to HB 318 to the (S) Agriculture, Livestock & Irrigation committee.   Our Buffalo Bill Tracker page has talking points for HB 318 and a guide to help you send comments to legislators.  Fire away!

In 2019 Governor Steve Bullock vetoed a bill with the same legal definition used in HB 318 because it "presents unintended consequences" for Yellowstone's wild herds, not just individual bison, which "could be inappropriately deemed domestic."

Despite comments and testimony from our members and people across Montana, (HB 318 begins at 16:24:45) the question of how HB 318 applies to the only buffalo recognized as wild in Montana has not been properly examined.  One thing is certain, Montana legislators seem bent on driving wild buffalo to extinction and burying any chance for recovering the wildlife species.

Spread the word to help stop HB 318 from becoming law in Montana. Thank you for everything you do to help wild buffalo!

THANK YOU so much for taking action for our National Mammal!
