Montana Legislature Special Take Action!
     
Dear members, Montana legislators are determined to pass HB 318 and HB 302 into law.   Our vote counter anticipates both bills will reach Governor Greg Gianforte's desk in April.  In past sessions, buffalo advocates rallied public pressure to persuade Montana's Governor to veto the worst buffalo bills from becoming law.   
 
In addition to keeping the pressure on Montana legislators, we are encouraging you to send your photos of Yellowstone's wild buffalo to Governor Greg Gianforte ( governor@mt.gov) with an important message:  Please recognize there are wild buffalo in Montana and efforts needed to recover the wild migratory species by vetoing HB 318 and HB 302.
 
Public pressure is coalescing to stop HB 318 and HB 302.  HB 318 changes the legal definition of "wild" buffalo in a way that appears to not recognize any "wild" buffalo in the state. HB 302 hands veto power to county officials over the state of Montana's decision to reintroduce buffalo.
 
Do not be deterred by the odds. We must remain persistent in applying pressure on Montana legislators and the Governor to do the right thing. 
 
Your calls, emails, and postings for help on your social networks can change outcomes!
 
When elected officials do not give proper notice of a hearing their cause is weak and public pressure is having an effect.  And so it is after providing less than 24 hours notice, the Senate Agriculture, Livestock & Irrigation committee heard HB 302 and will vote on the bill Tuesday, March 30.   Get your comments in today opposing HB 302 to the (S) Agriculture, Livestock & Irrigation committee.  
     
The Senate is expected to vote on HB 318 any day.  Please ask Senators if any buffalo in Montana meet HB 318's legal definition of "wild"?
